Emily Ashford Wallace Bell was born on February 20, 1952, and left this world on June 6, 2024.  She is predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth Ricker Wallace and Walter R. Wallace, by her husband, Stephen D. Bell, and her son, Wesley Franklin Bell.  She is survived by her son, Jonathon W. Bell (Katherine), her brother, Walter (Watt) Wallace, III (Suzanne), and her grandsons, Harrison Wesley Bell and Jack Wallace Bell and her niece, Angela W. Wilkers (John).

An equestrienne, a nurse, a mother, a sister, a friend, Emily made everyone welcome at Chimney Fox, her little piece of heaven in Cornersville, Tennessee, where she moved after raising her boys in Franklin, Tennessee.  With a truly engaging smile, plenty of really tasty food, and copious quantities of beverages and snacks and pillows and blankets and whatever one might need to be comfortable, Emily was known as the “hostess with the mostest.”   She knew how to put on a party at her home, one of her many friends’ homes, or at a tailgate after an exhilarating hunt with Hillsboro Hounds. The lady had fun! And horses were a big part of it.

Emily rode her pony as a youngster all around Germantown. Tennessee, to Pony Club events, all the Germantown Horse Shows, Oak Grove Hunt Club, and Long Green Hunt Club.  She was a longtime and beloved member of Hillsboro Hounds in Middle Tennessee.

She attended St. Mary’s School for Girls, Hutchison School for Girls, Germantown High School, and The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Widowed with two young boys in 1991, she earned her nursing degree at Aquinas College and spent many years nursing at Centennial Hospital’s Parthenon Pavilion.

A celebration of Emily’s life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at noon at Chimney Fox, Cornersville, Tennessee. All are welcome. In honor of Emily, please consider donations to Saddle Up! Or to Make-A-Wish, rather than flowers.
