Mrs. Doris Spradling Looney, a resident of Lewisburg, Tennessee, peacefully departed this life on December 9, 2024, at Village Manor. She was born on May 1, 1924, to the late Eugene and Edna Becker Spradling.

Doris led a distinguished career with the Department of Defense, maintaining a top security clearance for over 45 years, a testament to her dedication and integrity. In her early years, she shared a joyful life with her first husband, Lee Junger, a pilot for Trans World Airlines, during which time they engaged in Shiner’s charitable activities to support children. Following Lee’s passing, Doris reconnected with Quentin Looney, a major in the army, and later married. They were married 11 years and made their home in Lewisburg. When he passed, his legacy was honored with burial at Arlington Cemetery in Washington, D.C., with full military honors.

A devoted member of the historic First Presbyterian Church of Lewisburg, Doris nurtured her community spirit through various volunteer efforts, including her time at local hospitals and senior living facilities. She was an enthusiastic member of the Country Club during her younger years and always took great pleasure in shopping.

Mrs. Looney is survived by her niece, Janice Risinger and her two great-nieces, Melanie Harkey and Kristin Risinger. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a niece, Karen Spradling and nephew-in-law, Kevin.

Visitation for Mrs. Looney was held at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Robert Montgomery officiating. Following the service, she was laid to rest in Lone Oak Cemetery. Melanie Harkey, Kristin Risinger, Richard Hopkins, James Hopkins, Richard Kee, Dennis Hamilton, and Chuck Coble served as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Lewisburg.

A special thank you to the staff at Village Manor.

Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to assist the family with these arrangements, celebrating the remarkable life of a woman who touched many with her kindness and devotion.
