The Dirt Dobbers softball team took second at the Gulf Coast nationals, finishing with an overall record of 9-2, It was a difficult path for the Dobbers, who climbed their way out of the consolation bracket in the tournament, totaling seven games to reach the championship game. In the end, the Dobbers fell, 5-4, to the Xplosion X, of North Texas.
