BELL BUCKLE — A massive second quarter put Cornersville in a hole the Bulldogs were never able to recover from as the Feet romped in the season-opener, 56-6.
Just about everything fell Webb’s way, highlighted by a monster second quarter.
Webb (1-0) jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter after a 22-yard touchdown run by James Pierre and a Rayene Chiha successful point after put Webb up 7-0 at the 5:33 mark of the first quarte.r
Pierre found paydirt again in the closing seconds of the first quarter, this time coming on a 41-yard jaunt to the end zone.
Pierre added one final touchdown, scoring from two yards out with 7:55 left in the second quarter.
Leading 21-0, Webb’s offense tacked on two more scores in the half—a 20-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Ryan Wirtfeld to Chiha and a 2-yard keeper by Wirtfield.
With 23 seconds left in the half, Jayden Frazier added a defensive score for the Feet on a 15-yard fumble recovery to give Webb a 41-0 lead.
In the third, Tikum Aswonge broke free on a 79-yard touchdown run, but Cornersville (0-1) found an answer in the fourth.
Hunter Uland scored from six yards out with three minutes left for the lone Cornersville score on the night.
Webb added one more score on a 66-yard strike with 25 seconds left for the final score of the night.
Webb will hit the road and travel to Columbia Academy on Friday night for the first road contest of the year, while Cornersville will host in-county rival to the north Forrest on Friday.
Both games are slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
