Students in the Dual Enrollment Office Management course at Cornersville High School recently received Microsoft Office industry certification, which is an impressive credential recognized by business professionals nationwide. Students in the advanced computer class prepared for weeks for the rigorous exams. All eight students earned their industry certification as first year DE TCAT Office Management students in Microsoft Word 2019.
This advanced dual enrollment class is designed to be the final course in the Office Management program of study in the Business Management & Administration career cluster. The advanced course prepares students to continue postsecondary training in business related programs, provides advanced training for students pursuing a career in administrative and information support, and supports obtaining an industry certification in specific software applications. Course content and projects are meant to simulate workplace scenarios and draw on skills related to communications, operations, management, and teamwork in order to accomplish information management goals.
The Dual Enrollment program provides high school students credit at two institutions at the same time. At the high school level, the class is applied toward their high school diploma while also receiving hours toward a program certificate at Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) of Pulaski. The dual enrollment students receive an additional four points to the overall course average on their high school transcript. Upon graduation students who have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or above will graduate with distinction, whereby receiving a silver medallion to wear at the graduation ceremony.
