Members from the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) student organization from Cornersville High School and Forrest High School had a joint visit to Henry Horton State Park on October 19th. The members heard about various state park careers from state employees and also toured the park and its visitor center.
Organized by FBLA sponsors Shanna Swift of FHS and Vicky Carlton of CHS, the students met in the Duck River Room to listen to presentations from employees representing six career paths at the Tennessee State Parks.
Careers highlighted included Park Ranger (Samantha Davenport and Gary Purchase); State Park Office Administration (Melissa Garrett); Park Maintenance (Jeremy Meiring); Golf Course Professional (Neil Collins and Connor Scott); Golf Course Maintenance (Kevin Snell); and Restaurant Management/Hospitality (Amy Cook, LaDonna Stinson, and Lexie Cagle).
FBLA is the largest business Career and Technical Student Organization in the world which inspires and prepares students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences.
