Christmas Memories-Sarah Wood

Sarah Wood, owner of Studio 20 South, says Christmas is all about family. Sarah and her husband have 6 kids between the two of them. Wood loves this year’s theme, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and her mom Valerie Bridges came to paint her storefront windows for it. Wood said, “We always do Christmas Eve at mom’s house and then Christmas Day at home with the kids.”

“I wish I would’ve carried on the tradition of stringing popcorn. We strung popcorn every year when I was a kid. We’d sit down, mom would have big bowl of popcorn, and sometimes we’d put cranberry on there too. Since we moved to the farm I haven’t done it and I wish I would’ve,” said Wood.

They watch Christmas movies from Thanksgiving to Christmas: “Grinch”, “It’s a Wonderful Life”, and all of “The Santa Clause” movies with Tim Allen. “On Christmas Eve, we always watch Rudolph though, then my husband Sean reads “Twas the Night before Christmas” and the bible story of Mary, Joseph, and Jesus.”

Wood pointed out, “We’re minimalists when it comes to Christmas. We do one thing they want, one thing they need, and a book. Of course we do stockings and a Santa gift, but that’s it. I shop local for everything I can-Sassy’s Boutique, Bird in a Bush, Cypress Café, and Southern Sugar Saloon. I always try to get gift cards and stocking stuffers from locals.”
