Charlotte Ann Willoughby Foster
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charlotte Ann Willoughby Foster, 86, on January 11, 2025, in Lewisburg, Tennessee. Born on June 5, 1938, in Athens, Alabama, she was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Charlotte was married to her devoted husband, Harold Foster, on December 16, 1955. Together they formed a loving family and Charlotte was a proud mother to her two daughters, Cindy Durand and Cathey Hunter. As a preacher’s wife, she dedicated herself to her faith, demonstrating her love for God and active service in her community. Charlotte attended Liberty Valley Church of Christ and Farmington Church of Christ, where she touched the lives of many.
For 45 years, Charlotte’s passion for nurturing others shone through her work while providing a daycare for 45 years where she had a profound impact on the lives of countless children. Her home was always filled with warmth and laughter where she lovingly prepared meals for her family, enjoyed sewing, and participated in arts and crafts. Charlotte was known for her culinary skills, often baking for others, and she had a special place in her heart for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, to which she contributed monthly.
Charlotte was a vibrant and active woman who lived life to the fullest. She cherished her time spent camping and enjoyed listening to her husband’s music during their many “picking and grinning” sessions. Charlotte frequented flea markets and her engaging nature meant she never met a stranger. Her generous spirit and willingness to help others will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, James Rufus and Mary Anna Hawkins Willoughby; her daughter, Celina Antonia Foster; and her sister, Carolyn Hulshof. She is survived by her husband, Harold Thomas Foster; her daughters, Cindy (Gary) Durand and Cathey (Michael) Hunter; sister, Ruth Isley; grandchildren, Rachel (Monte) Payne, Lesley (Joel) Worsham, and Keenan (Courtney) Hunter; great grandchildren, Lilly and Levi Worsham; and a host of other family members. A Special Thanks to Caris Hospice and NHC Lewisburg for the special care they took with Charlotte.
