Charlie Sanders, 76, passed away at his home in Belleville, Mich. on May 9, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Charlie was born in Marshall County on Feb. 8, 1948, to Charlie and Christine Hobby Sanders. Charlie was raised by his grandparents, George and Myrtle Hobby in Lewisburg until he was twelve years old then he moved to Michigan. He was one of six children.
After joining the US Army 1967-1973, he worked on the Alaska Pipeline for a few years before returning to Michigan, where he worked for General Motors and Ford Motor Company. He retired from Ford after 28 years. He was an active member of the Belleville Lighthouse Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Keith Sanders; brother, David Sanders, and his grandparents, George and Myrtle Hobby.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Sanders; one son, Robert (Brandie) Sanders of Mississippi; sisters, Joyce (Lee) Nicholson of Columbia, Norma Cross (Randall) Dodson of Lewisburg, Sarah Ann (Dennis) Weber of Garden City, Mich,; one brother, Kenneth (Liz) Sanders of Ann Arbor, Mich.
A Celebration of Life Service was held on May 18, 2024, at The Belleville Lighthouse Church.
