Marshall County will be holding a County Primary for the first time on May 5, 2026. With that, some things will look different on the ballot when voting for county offices. Each candidate will have the option to run as a Republican, Democrat or Independent. If they choose to run with either party, their name will appear on the Primary ballot in May. If any candidate chooses to run as an Independent, their name will not be on the Primary ballot. They will be on the County General ballot on August 6, 2026. Regardless of how a candidate chooses to run, the qualifying timeline will be the same for all candidates running for a county office. The first day petitions may be issued is December 22, 2025, with the Qualifying Deadline being February 19, 2026, at 12:00 Noon. A list of all offices that will be on the County ballot are as follows:
County Mayor
County Commission (All 9 Districts)
Trustee
Sheriff
Circuit Court Clerk
County Clerk
Register of Deeds
Superintendent of Roads
School Board (Districts 3, 5, 6 and 9)
For any voter that chooses to vote in the May County Primary, you will have to choose either a Republican or Democratic ballot, similar to State and Federal primaries which are held in August.
This change only affects the county elections. Municipal elections, such as Lewisburg, Chapel Hill and Cornersville will remain unchanged.
