Mrs. Carol P. Purdom, 88, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Tuesday, March 4, 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee. Mrs. Purdom was born in Marshall County and was a daughter of the late Jasper George and Jennie Margaret Marshall Palmore.
Carol was a graduate of Forrest High School Class of 1954 and a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Chapel Hill. She retired from the Town of Chapel Hill where she served for many years as the Town Recorder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William D. “Billy” Purdom, who died in 2019, and her son, James D. “Jimmy” Purdom, who died in 2016.
Mrs. Purdom is survived by her daughter, Cathy Lee Purdom, Brentwood, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Mary Purdom, Rover community of Bedford County; sisters, Kay P. Daughrity, Lewisburg, Tennessee, Nancy P. Rainey, Brentwood, Tennessee; grandsons, Kendall Purdom and Alex Purdom, both of the Rover community.
Family members received friends on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services followed at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Tim McGehee officiating. Burial took place in Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill.
