MCHS CAREER EXPO
Marshall County High School hosted a Career Expo all day on November 1, 2023, in the Dottie Kelso Gymnasium. On hand were 18 businesses, service providers, military branches, and technical school representatives who spent the day engaging with juniors and seniors, as well as 7th and 8th graders from Lewisburg Middle School.
“This event gave students an opportunity to learn more about a wide variety of careers and the education and training necessary to pursue the field,” stated Industry Liaison Beth Stockwell. “This was a collaborative effort and the representatives did a fantastic job interacting with the students who in turn asked questions and sought additional information.”
Those who participated included: Marshall Medical Center; United Farm & Home Cooperative; Davis Law Firm; First Commerce Bank; TCAT-Shelbyville; US National Guard; Capstone Fabrication; United Communications; US Army; simpliHom; Lewisburg Animal Hospital; Marshall County Retired Teachers Association; Lewisburg Fire Department; and from Marshall County the Sheriff’s Department, Office of Emergency Management, E-911, and Emergency Medical Services.
Guidance counselors Mrs. Jeanne Wiles and Mr. Blair Goodman assisted with event and Mrs. Kim Anderson’s FBLA members created signage and worked the welcome table and hospitality room. MCHS and SLTC staff, teachers and custodians also made the day run smoothly. Coach Thomas Osteen, Columbia State Community College, Capstone Fabrication, Greg Lowe, and Marshall County Solid Waste contributed door prizes and giveaways.
