Bobby “Bob” Wayne Edens

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bobby Wayne Edens, a beloved figure in our community, who departed this life on March 8, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 78. Born on September 2, 1946, in Moore County, Tennessee, Bob lived a life dedicated to service, education, and family.

Bob was an esteemed educator, serving as a teacher and principal in the Marshall County School System, where he touched the lives of countless students and faculty. His remarkable career in education was highlighted by his deep commitment guiding students and the profound influence he had as a mentor and father figure to many young men. Bob also had an impressive coaching career, notably winning the AA State Football Championship while coaching at Marshall County High School in 1984 and earning induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame for Coaching in 2014, following 22 years as a head football coach.

A lifelong member of the First Baptist Church since 1977, Bob was a devoted deacon and was honored with the title of Deacon Emeritus for his many years of service. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his work and interactions with others. Bob’s love for his family was evident in everything he did, cherishing his time spent with his spouse, Peggy, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Bob’s zest for life extended beyond the classroom and football field. He enjoyed golfing with his friends, mowing his yard with pride, and cherishing moments on his tractor. His warm heart and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. Bob carried out countless good deeds quietly and selflessly, perfectly embodying the spirit of kindness.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion “Boss” and Ruby Steelman Edens and brother, Hubert Edens. He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Haislip Edens; son, Brent Edens (Marta) of Mt. Home, Ark; daughters, Lisa Hickman (Dwain) of Lynnville; Tracy Brewer (Mike) of Maryville, and Deanna Hopkins (Darrin) of Lynnville; nephew, Jeff Edens (Sylvia); niece, Karrie Tucker (Curtis); grandchildren, Halie Prince (Justin), Hunter White, Haison Hopkins, Cade Hopkins, Madison Hopkins, Abby Edens, Bryant Edens and great- grandchildren, Isaiah Prince and Jonah Prince.

Visitation took place Monday, March 10, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 323 N 2nd Ave, Lewisburg, Tenn. Visitation continued Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour of 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Tom Dumser and Joe Dugger officiating the service. Burial followed at Lone Oak Cemetery. Monk Reese, David Jent, Jason Jent, Ritchie Brewer, Marshall Miller, and Bryant Edens served as pallbearers.  Spencer Mitchell, Jerry Adams, and Wayne Aldridge were the honorary pallbearers.
