It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Bill Horner, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of the community. Bill transcended this earthly realm on Oct. 10, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that resonates with compassion, dedication, and love.

Funeral services were held in the chapel of Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home, where friends and family gathered Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., to pay their final respects to this remarkable man and celebrate a life profoundly lived. Visitation was Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. Officiating the service was Mr. Bob Phillips and Dr. Tom Dumser.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Lewisburg or The Michael J. Born on Aug. 30, 1934, in Dyer, Tenn. to Claude W and Geraldine Boyd Horner, he graduated from Memphis State University prior to serving two honorable years in the US Army. He then pursued his thirst for knowledge at the University of Tennessee Pharmacy School, where he obtained his degree and ventured into a lifelong career as a trusted pharmacist.

Bill’s unwavering commitment to his profession spanned an impressive half-century and his dedication to the well-being of others was deeply felt by those lives he touched. He consistently went above and beyond to provide comfort and care to his customers, earning their trust and admiration.

While his professional achievements were distinguished, Bill’s commitment to service extended far beyond his career. He proudly served as a lifetime member of the Lions Club, dedicating his time and efforts to numerous charitable initiatives that uplifted and supported his local community. Furthermore, he found solace and camaraderie in the company of his fellow “Old Geezers Coffee Club” members, where friendships were forged and stories shared.

Bill had a zest for life that extended beyond his professional and community endeavors. As a passionate golfer, he often found reprieve on the green fairways, enveloped in the serenity of the sport he loved. Moreover, his love for the vibrant beauty of nature was epitomized in his deep affection for roses, which brought him a sense of tranquility and joy.

In recognition of his spiritual dedication and wisdom, he held the esteemed position of Deacon Emeritus and also, served as the Chairman of the Deacons. Through his selfless service, he embodied the teachings of his faith and uplifted the congregation with his compassionate and steadfast nature.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Claudette Cash. He is survived by his wife, Lina; son, Chris Horner; daughter, Julie (Randy) Gannon of Woodbury, Tenn.; brother, James (Elizabeth) Horner of Germantown, Tenn.; grandchildren, Drew (Christy) Gannon, Hayley Gannon, Katie Gannon, Kristen “Gareth” Thorndyke and Nicholas Horner; and great grandchildren, Thatcher Gannon, Victor Thorndyke, Vladimir Thorndyke, and Vaughn Thorndyke.

As we bid him farewell in this earthly realm, we take solace in the belief that Bill has entered eternal rest, where he will find peace and eternal happiness, surrounded by the love of God.
