Attempted Homicide Investigation

On September 19, 2023, around 7:07 a.m., Lewisburg Police were dispatched to 448 3rd Ave. regarding a stabbing that had just occurred. Lewisburg Police arrived on scene and found a 47-year-old male victim, identified as William Turner, on the front porch covered in blood. Officers began accessing Mr. Turner’s injuries and immediately requested Marshall County EMS. Marshall County EMS arrived and took over treatment of Mr. Turner. Marshall County EMS transported Mr. Turner to Vanderbilt Medical Center for further treatment.

Lewisburg Detectives responded and immediately started processing the scene. During the initial investigation, it was learned that 32-year-old Marcellus L Ross was a suspect in the stabbing. Within a few hours, detectives had procured a warrant on Marcellus Ross for Attempted Criminal Homicide. Officers with the Giles County Sheriff’s Office and Pulaski Police Department took Mr. Ross into custody at a residence in Giles County. Mr. Ross will be transported back to the Marshall County Jail and served with a warrant for Attempted Criminal Homicide. A court appearance will be forthcoming.

At the time of this release, Mr. Turner is currently in surgery and the extent of his injuries is unknown.

The investigation is ongoing.
