CHAPEL HILL — The Forrest Rockets (5-2, 1-1) did the entirety of their scoring in the first half and crushed backyard opponent Community, 54-0, on Homecoming night to claim a Region 4-3A on Friday night.
Simply put, the Rockets had their way with Community (0-7, 0-2) on both sides of the ball.
Quincy Mitchell found the end zone three times in the first half, scoring on runs of nine, one and 15 yards, while quarterback Micah Morgan tossed three touchdown passes in the first half.
Morgan connected on a 42-yard strike to Isaac Cruse with 7:19 left in the first and the pair hooked up again on a 29-yard touchdown toss with eight minutes left in the half.
His final touchdown pass of the night came as time expired in the second quarter when he connected with Shawn David on a 12-yard pass.
Braiden and Blaze Bourne also scored rushing touchdowns for the Rockets, scoring on 21 and two yards, respectively.
Forrest led 19-0 after the first period and tacked on a staggering 35 points in the second quarter to put the Rockets well over the running clock limit to let the hosts coast to the 54-point victory.
Friday night’s win puts the Rockets back in the win column following a tough region loss to Sequatchie County and sets up a crucial Region 4-3A matchup on Friday night at the Rock against Cascade.
The Champions enter Friday’s key region contest having fallen in its first two region games of the year to Giles County and Sequatchie County.
