On June 23rd, Annette Fenech and Kathy Smith represented Lewisburg at the Tennessee Senior Olympics in the 1500-yard Power Walking race. Fenech placed first – bringing home. Smith placed second – bringing home silver.
These ladies work very hard and train daily. They walk an average of 5 miles a day. Next year, they will compete in the National Senior Olympics in Iowa, where they hope to make Marshall County proud by placing at a national rank!
What is even more special about these women is that during every race, they give all the glory and praise to God.
Annette always repeats Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” while she races. Her family was cheering her on from the stands and screamed that verse on Sunday, June 23, when she competed. They knew it was her favorite verse and they knew it would motivate her. She told her family hearing them really encouraged her to push harder.
Annette is a testament to all those who trust and believe in God. She draws her strength from the Lord. She praises God for giving her the strength and determination to finish strong and place first. Due to a back injury a few years ago, she was unable to walk, but she knows that God is the one who healed her and provides her with the power to do anything she puts her mind to!
Kathy and Annette both walk for the Lord, and in doing so they brought home gold and silver in the Tennessee Senior Olympics!
