Richard C. Phillips, 83, of Fayetteville, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Lincoln Medical Center. He was born in Giles County, TN on June 22, 1940, to the late William Glenn and Elsie Elaine Norwood Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a retired water superintendent for the Northeast Knox Utility District.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Box Phillips; daughter-in-law, Nancy Phillips; sister, Elaine Phillips; and brothers, Charles Phillips, Bob Phillips and Wallace Phillips.
Mr. Phillips is survived by daughters, Laurie (Jeff) Spence of Darby, Mont., Becky (T-Layne) Blasingim of Fayetteville, Tenn., Randi (Terry) Bell of Rapid City, South Dakota; son, Richard A. Phillips of Cornersville, Tenn.; brothers, Wayne (Brenda) Phillips and David (Bonnie) Phillips; grandchildren, Richard Lee (Miranda) Phillips, Victoria (Brad) Mitchell, Jesse (Amber) Phillips, Cody (Elizabeth) Phillips, Madi (Jason) Steelman, Levi (Kerri) Spence, Logan (Kristin) Spence, Mariah (Coltan) Smith, Tyler Street, Danny Bell, Sam Bell, Britton (Katie) Blasingim; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Graveside services were held Friday, December 8, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in Medium Cemetery with Pastor Charles Mayo officiating. Visitation was Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home. Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Richard C. Phillips.
